‘Slow Down’ is my new mantra!
Slowing down has been always a real challenge for me. I’m always active, on the go, can’t sit still, need to move, need to do something! Yoga for sure has helped me a lot to move more towards slowing down. Breath awareness, moving mindfully with intention have had a great positive impact on my body and mind over the past couple of years.
Over the last year, though, I realised I need to slow down even more. And I admit the ‘Yin Yoga and Mindfulness/ Mediation’ training with Josh Summers and the ‘Somatic Movement Education’ with Lisa Peterson played an important role in my realisation.
By slowing down we become more aware of what is going on around us, we are able to feel our feelings and emotions and we notice what impact certain situations have on us. It is so important to slow down and therefore protect our energy. If we don’t slow down we simply deplete ourselves, mentally and physically.
Approaching the Christmas season now, it’s actually almost impossible to avoid all this craziness, so it’s even more vital to take a step back and slow down, inhale fully and exhale completely – notice if you are just rushing from one place to the next or if you are fully in the moment. You are in charge of ourselves and can change the situation! Don’t deplete yourself before Christmas!
Slow down in everything you do and protect your energy! Bring the mindfulness of your yoga and meditation in to your life! Take it step by step, breath by breath and become fully aware of what you do, when you do it and how you do it 🙂 I need to remind myself all the time 😉
